KSAMB’s work is site-specific dance improvisation. Risky, creative, and the perfect exercise in awareness, love, and resilience. NUIT DE COULEURS involved 8 dancers and lighting designer J.J. Neufeld, improvising together in real time! The audience was invited to come and go between 8 and 10 pm, observing distancing and group size restrictions.
The site was activated the whole 2 hours with light and music. We encouraged participation and movement. KSAMB dancers performed 8–8:45, and again 9:15–10 pm. From 8:45–9:15 visitors were be encouraged to join a physically distanced dance jam!
NUIT DE COULEURS installation was a special edition of our weekly WILD CARD MOVEMENT series, where our dancers have been honing their skills in live improvised performance. Some of our dancers' bios can be seen at this LINK
KSAMB Dance Company strongly believes in the importance of dance for health and social wellbeing, especially in times of crisis. From the beginning of restrictions, when we moved all our dance activities outdoors, we have followed the latest provincial and federal guidelines and researched best practices to reduce the risk of viral transmission.
