Tipping Point Sunday, August 29, at WEGO Remai
Conceived and directed by Kyle Syverson and Miki Mappin. The world is changing fast. In dance, as in life, does tipping indicate a crash or the beginning of rich new possibilities? And what about the blissful, or terrifying, suspension of time and space as we tip?

Four 30 minute improvised performances, exploring the theme of tipping point. In the context of our foundational practice Contact Improvisation, it is the physics of gravity and balance; in Contemporary Dance, it is felt as suspension; in human society, it is a time of great change, perhaps precipitated by the experience of environmental tipping points.
10:15 am–Tipping Point 1. We begin on the stairs to the river by the Traffic Bridge, working with the image of water. Directed by invited choreographer Haleh Mirmiri, a dancer from Iran who has been working with the company.
11:45 am–Tipping Point 2 celebrates our ability to redirect a fall, or change, into something new. A duet by Kyle and Miki near the River Landing concession.
1:15 pm–Tipping Point 3 is a puzzle. How does this machine we are in work? What role will you, the audience, play in this 30 minute improvisation with the Torres sculpture?
2:45 pm–Tipping Point 4, an attempt to maintain balance on the second floor balcony of the Remai, sometimes comical, with a hint of danger.
