All of KSAMB's works are activist in one way or another. Working to make dance more accessible to more people and challenging the elitism of the contemporary dance and modern art world is a radical act. Many of our performances have dealt with issues of gender. We are activist in our attempts to encourage people to find joy and freedom in a repressive society. In 2020, when the pandemic barred dancers from studios, unlike other dance companies we did not stop practicing, performing, or teaching. We moved all our activities, outdoors, dancing, rehearsing, and performing in parks, public squares, and in the streets, in all seasons and all weather. Since that time, our work has become even more community and politically engaged. We have developed relationships with local activist organizations, and our core members have become involved in activism around community gardening, and the issues of the unhoused in our neighborhood.
