2020-21 Wild Card Movement – An outdoor improvisation experiment open to the public. We performed the first Friday of every month, in different civic spaces around Saskatoon, from October of 2020. Our dancers gathered weekly to practice ensemble dance improvisation skills, observing pandemic restrictions. We videoed our improvisations and gathered to view and critique our work every week. When weather permitted, outdoors projected on to the side of a building, and online in winter.
LIVE movement improvisation. Puzzle-solving, meaning-making, listening and celebrating! This is Wild Card Movement.

Free to express themselves, to love, to grow food, to dance!

"In everyday life, "if" is a fiction, in the theatre "if" is an experiment. In everyday life, "if" is an evasion, in the theatre "if" is the truth. When we are persuaded to believe in this truth then the theatre and life are one ... when we experience the work as play, then it is not work anymore. A play is play.” ― Peter Brook

Friday, August 7- KSAMB's Friday Night Improv resumes, with what turns out to be the first performance of Wild Card Movement.
During July of 2020 KSAMB Dance Company, having obtained permission from the City of Saskatoon, performed To the Heart, a one hour, three person show on Fridays in City Hall Square.
In March, 2020, KSAMB Dance Company's Friday Night Improv group began meeting every Friday in City Hall Square, from 6 pm to 7:30, to practise ensemble dance improvisation skills. We made a video of work we did with poet Laura Edna Lacey: Be Lonely
With dance studios closed, we lowered the health risk by keeping our events outdoors where conditions provide maximum ventilation – and opportunities to extend our site-specific practice. We advocate for Presence, Love, and Resilience in our dance, as a participatory road to good, healthy, risk-taking entertainment.
