Annika Lessing, dancer

Annika has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan. As a mover she has experience in diverse techniques, having taken hip-hop, ballet, burlesque, Mitzvah/Itcush Method, and Contact Improvisation classes/workshops. In 2017, Annika choreographed and performed a solo burlesque piece at Free Flow Dance Centre in Saskatoon. She has also performed in choral settings, having sung in North Battleford’s Kamala Youth Choir for over 10 years in her childhood and adolescent life. The choir performed locally and at festivals in Banff, Ottawa, and Edmonton. It also produced two musicals in which Annika was prominently involved.
In terms of dance, however, Annika is most interested in improvisational dance and the ways in which movement flows from forces beyond one’s control into the parameters of group experimentation. With KSAMB Dance Co. she has had the opportunity to explore improvisational techniques and to use them in collaborative and performance settings.
