Movement Improvisation Exchange

August 5-7, 2022: Movement Improvisation Exchange

15 hours of classes with Contact Improv teacher and dance improviser Katarina Eriksson, (Stockholm/San Francisco) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan!

The Movement Improvisation Exchange is suited to theatre artists, musicians, dancers, and movers of all kinds, curious about improvisation, contact improvisation and performance. Through a weekend of classes and performance, we will deepen existing practices and make new connections!

In this weekend intensive, Katarina facilitates an exploration of Contact Improvisation (CI), physical theatre, and improvised performance, using vulnerability, musicality and deep play as guides. Katarina has taught improvisation and CI internationally for over 25 years. She specializes in integrating CI with movement improvisation scores for performance.

Based out of a beautiful church hall, we also have easy access to lovely parks and riverbank for dancing, weather permitting.  On Saturday and Sunday evening we will use a historic civic building, the Pumphouse on Meewasin River Landing, for two public events:

Saturday, August 6 – a movement jam with live music.

Sunday, August 7– performances by two invited guests, I-Ying Wu (Regina) and Richard Lee (Calgary), and scored improvisation by participants, under the direction of Katarina.

Hosted by KSAMB Dance Company.

$200. Some subsidies are available from Dance Saskatchewan. We can help with billets.
